Well, thanks for asking, Helen - but I have just receicved the news - I won a Highly Commended for my needlelace (a Gros Point motif), and I won 1st prize in the Mixed Lace class - for a Beds edge around a needlelace centre (which was the Ice-cream Cornucopia from the Biggins "New Designs in Honiton Lace" book. The Honiton lace works beautifully in needlelace!
The prize was an 8'diameter Red Gum Bowl, with a silver inlay of a needle, bobbin, and tatting shuttle. It is really beautiful, and I am thrilled with it. It was made by John Beswick, of South Australia, who also makes great bobbins. He is a very skilled craftsman, and I will really treasure the prize. (Usual disclaimer!) from Liz in Melbourne, Oz, where it is freezing cold, and we have constant hail showers today.
