I'm moving this to lace-chat, because this isn't lace-related. An apple doll is, AFAIK, a doll whose head is made from a dried apple. You take an apple and use your fingernails to mark a mouth, eyes, and other features, and as the apple dries (I think it takes a few weeks), you pinch the nose and chin. At the end of the process you're supposed to end up with a dried apple that looks like an old person's face, with lots of wrinkles and character. Skilled craftspeople can make surprisingly lifelike faces. The body is usually an ordinary doll's body or an armature covered with clothing. Often these dolls are dressed as pioneers. They're a popular craft fair item.
Avital Original Message: ----------------- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please, what's an "apple doll"? Is it a doll carved out of an apple, or a collection of apples stuck together to make a doll, or something else altogether? And do they have to be dressed as well?
