My understanding of the difficulty differentiating between left and right is that it 
is actually a form of dyslexia! Mind you, they say, if you broaden the definition of 
dyslexia enough, that about 90% of the population are dyslexic in one form or another. 
 (one of my daughters cannot repeat series of numbers - another form of dyslexia).

A second comment is that there are some who believe that some dyslexia, at least, is 
related to whether or not babies cross-pattern crawl.  Some elephant-crawl, some, like 
both my husband and I, sit (sat for us, obviously we no longer do this!) and propel 
themselves forward with one leg. The above-mentioned daughter rolled wherever she 
wanted to go. Cross-pattern crawling seems to pattern left and right in the brain.

Just some thoughts on it.
