I'm happy to hear that turquoise is still in general use. I often use it to describe colours, and people mostly seem to disagree, and call the colour blue or green. Come to think of it, it's mainly men who do this. Leaving aside whether they're slightly colour-blind or not, I don't think men use fancy words for colours as women do.
I recently read a magazine article which was a kind of User Guide to Men, aimed at women. On colours, it had this to say; "ALL men see in only 16 colours, like the Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a colour. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is." I once read that people slowly lose their ability to distinguish between blue and green as they age. I'm certainly finding that, and I'm still in my 40s. Perhaps that should be taken into account when planning a new colour code.
