Yes, Lynn, the fires have begun. This morning dawned still, clear and bright, but around lunchtime the smoke from the fires in Sydney started drifting our way. Now, with the winds picking up and becoming very strong again, the smoke is very thick. Even though we shut all the doors and windows as soon as we saw the smoke coming, the smell of it is very strong inside - and I've just checked outside to see if I might be able to get some fresh air inside, but no way. I can taste smoke on my lips and skin, my eyes are itching from it, and my voice and throat are affected by it.
At least, at this stage anyway, the fires are still in a national park and no property is in danger - but if the winds keep up, that situation could change tomorrow. Now of course it is cooler (only 95F in the day) but the high winds that promote lots of arson begun fires have begun. http://personals.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo! Personals New people, new possibilities.
