Well, all things change, and I haven't had to deal with the
"system" for the last year and a half, so I'm not
up-to-date. But when I was a "provider" (one of the people
who provided the services paid by Medicaid), it covered that
segment of the population who was neither retired nor
employed... those with medical disabilities which prevented
them from working, children of those people, and in some
cases, people who worked but whose income was so
insufficient to the needs of their families that they were
eligible for assistance... And for a while there, it seemed
they had more medical options than the rest of us. But the
fact is that fewer and fewer physicians are willing to take
the tiny payments Medicaid was willing to pay for services,
so that isn't so any more. And the amount of paperwork
required for reimbursement is horrific - one of the reasons
I decided to "close shop".
