I think you will find that MIMOSA is the same as wattle. Or it is almost the same - near enough.
Although it might LOOK similar in flower, it is by no means a member of the Acacia family :)

I think it is mainly just a name change (though the botanists amongst us may beg to differ!!) Mimosa comes from France (the south, perhaps), if I remember correctly, and would be an adequate substitute, I think. Try looking for that, it may be easier to find.
