Started packing today...looks like we might need to leave for a day or so this time. Frances is too dangerous a storm to ignore. My husband is off this week, so he stood in lines today and bought wood, batteries, etc. Tomorrow he is covering our windows and doors. The storm is currently expected to make landfall a good deal south of here, but they can't be sure, so if we are told to leave ... we will be ready and we will leave! It's been a crazy month with hurricanes coming in at us from just about every angle, and still missing us somehow. My heart and prayers go out to those farther south...I was 11 when Dora made landfall in Jacksonville, and it left a very big impression on me. My dad took us outside during the eye (which was really neat). The bad part was that we lost power and were without electricity for most of a week (we cooked on a camping stove), but our house survived. My aunt's house had a huge oak come through the ceiling. Later my father took us to the beach so we could see firsthand the devastation. I'll never forget it! And it was just a level 1 or 2 hurricane. Better get back to the packing!
