There are safety issues with everything nowadays. There's usually a Christmas tree with lights at our civic centre and one on a major roundabout. The one on the roundabout's there this year, but surrounded by a mesh fence to keep people away in case someone gets electrocuted by touching the wires or bulbs or whatever. It isn't possible to erect a barrier where the other one would be, so there isn't one. The number of people who have been electrocuted in previous years is nil. They'll put both trees up next year if they can arrange low voltage lighting in time. Obviously takes more than a year to arrange that sort of thing - no, I don't believe that either.
