For the past 20 years I haven't celebrated Christmas - not since I left home ... anyway, the Aussie does celebrate Christmas so as he supported me in my beliefs I felt is was only fair that I supported him - so for the very first time since I left home at 18 I have a Christmas tree.
And for the Aussie, it is the very first time since he left the UK, 34 years ago, that he has had a real, live Christmas tree, in fact, he so wanted a real, live Christmas tree that we've had it since 2-Dec. And, since August, I've been making things to go on the tree for him - and for once, I haven't found Christmas as commercial as I used to because I'm looking at it through the Aussie's eyes. So, for Christmas, on about 3 hours I'll pick my mum up and take her to collect our turkeys then we'll go and drop our presents off to my Aunt. I'll come back and take one of my tutor's her Xmas present, then this evening, I'll pick up the Aussie from London and we apparantly will open just one present from our stockings. Tomorrow morning we will wake late, open our presents, then round to my parent's for lunch. We'll play some games in the afternoon which is always fun with my father being blind and my mum unable to keep to the rules, then I've bought antipasti for a late tea for us all. We'll come home late and chill out for the evening. Boxing day - my brother and sister in law and nephew are coming up from Devon so we'll pop over to my parent's to see them for an hour then go for a walk in Richmond Park. Then I have two whole days with the Aussie and (fingers crossed) no phone calls from his work - so it's walks, lunches and DVD hunting. Even better, we have shut down at work until the new year so no phone calls from there at all for 10 days! This will be bliss!
