Much as I would love to have owned and ridden horses, I have not. I 
did however read an introduction to the use of horses in the Society 
for Creative Anachronism whose author said that using stallions was 
unwise - because they tend to fight each other, and if there are 
mares about, they want to create herds out of them and then defend 
them, let alone the general attraction problem if the mares are 
coming into season. He said people had tried it in the SCA, and it 
didn't work well. What does the SCA do with them?  Holds tournaments, 
like in the old days.
