a hush puppy is about 2 cups corn meal, 2 tablespoons of sugar,1 chopped up onion, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/3 cup of parlsey flakes, 3/4 to 1 cup of flour, one egg, and enough water to make the mixture thick enough to be spooned out without it falling off the spoon. you take a deep fryer or quart saucepan fill it full of grease, get it hot, drop in the mixture one overflowing teaspoon full at a time.
they pop up into little dark brown balls when they are done. make sure you turn them over to so both sides are browned equally. put them in a plate covered with a towel to absorb the grease or put them in a strainer where the grease can drain. they come with all the fish dinners when you eat out. you can put ketchup on them or eat them with out it. they are just fried cornbread balls mixed with flour. they are really good!! if you ate some you would find out why america loves its fried foods!! --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > In a message dated 14/07/2005 21:49:38 GMT Daylight Time, > [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > > america's most favorite foods are fried like fried > chicken, french fries, onion rings, potatoe chips, fried fish and > hush > puppies, hamburgers, pork chops, etc. > > I'm going to regret asking this but what is a hush puppy when it's > not a > shoe over here in the UK? > > > Regards > > Liz in London > > I'm back _blogging_ (http://journals.aol.com/thelacebee/thelacebee) > my > latest lace piece - have a look by clicking on the link or going to > _h > ttp://journals.aol.com/thelacebee/thelacebee_ > (http://journals.aol.com/thelacebee/thelacebee) > > To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the > line: > unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > from susan in tennessee,u.s.a. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
