Hi everyone I am investigating buying a smooth-top stove. My old stove was really good when it was new, and I'm quite happy with the coil-type burners, but the new of the latter aren't as well-made as they used to be. I have been to a couple of sites that discuss using the smooth-top, get the drift that the smooth-top have different problems to deal with and one has to get used to the way the pots heat etc. DH is disappointed because he won't be able to use his stove-top waffle maker, on account of it isn't flat on the bottom (it is waffle-shaped LOL). Then I wonder if it would scratch the ceramic surface. Anyone have any advice - I'm more concerned with the cooking procedures, rather than the cleaning. If you changed from coil to smooth top, what adjustments did you have to make with your cooking system? e.g. I like to make a meal all in one pot or skillet, simmering over a period of time (which permits me to do other things in the interim, it's a lazy but efficient method - will I have to watch the proverbial pot regarding the smooth-top?).
