Oddly enough, I *almost* went to a pirate party on Saturday night -
but just shipped my niece (living with us for a month) along with my
daughter and son-in-law who had invited her. People dress up in all
sorts of ways - bandanas and earrings and eyepatches. Robbie (10
months) went as their parrot (bright cloth wing feathers sewn to a
hooded sweatshirt), perching on their shoulder. It is also
acceptable to go with a bandolier of AOL (America Online) freebie CDs
(= a software pirate), or in a snazzy business suit with a bandana
and large gold hoop earring (= a corporate raider). They have gone
several years in a row, and seem to consider it one of the high
points of their Fall season!
