More bits about coffee and tea preferences...

ah - the 'why-is-it-round' is a phrase from a Tetley's commercial (heard
in Canada)...but they never told us! so I thank you for pointing out the
fit as regards putting it in a mug!

The 'steeped tea' at Tim Horton's is quite good! I also like buying any
tea from a place that does their own coffee drinks with steam (cappucino
etc.) - Jenny is right, the water makes a difference.
At home our water comes from a system that uses chlorination; therefore
I have filters on the coffee maker and the tea kettle, as well on the
pitcher kept in the fridge. If I use water from the tap, the beverages
aren't as nice.

I usually drink coffee black, but have switched from dairy to the soy
product called Silk to use occasionally as a 'creamer' - much easier to
digest and emulsifies well with the coffee.

Today I bought a cup of black tea 'to go' at a trendy bakery/coffee shop;
the server measures the tea leaves and taps them into a little paper 'tea
filter' - unsealed except for a fold at the top of the envelope. This is
slung over the lip of the paper cup, which is then filled with water from
the steamer. The filter is held in place by a plastic lid. A step up from
a tea bag on a string ;)
This was an Italian bakery.
At the bakery counter the 'Garibaldi' biscuits, lemon tarts and other
goodies were expensive and looked 'good' but not appealing; I
should like to have
had an apple tart, or a palmier, or a madeleine with it <ggg>
