to keep. What is your resolution?

I never even heard of New Year's resolutions until I came to the States (possibly because making resolutions in a political environment where you had very little to say about your present or future was an experiment in futility).

Once I have heard about them though, in my eagerness to fit into my new "nest", I did try to make them the first couple of years. And succeeded only in confirming my highschool's sweetheart's sweeping opinion: "some people have strong will, some weak, Tamara has none"; I broke every one of them :)

So I reverted to making New Year's wishes instead, and it worked for a while...

Unfortunately, now that US has caught up to the pre-'89 USSR standards of "Big Brother Is Watching You" -- with FBI, CIA and NSA running rampant on the basis of "executive initiatives" -- I no longer dare to state my wishes in public (you do know someone's watching, but you don't know who's reporting where anymore)... There are some lacy ideas I'd like to follow up on, and I doubt I'd be able to if I were "renditioned" to an accomodating "black hole" somewhere in Europe (including my mother country).

Yours, resolutely resolution-less
