I think I've seen this joke before. I'm forwarding it because of the story which precedes it... :)

From: R.P.

This one reminds me of the story from a friend of my mom's. She liked
to keep a dish of hard candy on the coffee table, for friends who came
visiting. Her dog liked hard candy, but she'd taught him that he
wasn't allowed to eat from the dish on the coffee table.

One day as she walked past the living room, she saw the dog take a
candy out of the dish, lay down with it, roll it around in his mouth a
few minutes, heave a big sigh and obediently put it back into the dish!

She stopped keeping a dish of candy on her table.

             -------------------------------

A tour bus driver is driving with a bus load of seniors down a
highway when he is tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady.

She offers him a handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up.

After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his shoulder again and she
hands him another handful of peanuts.

She repeats this gesture about five more times.
When she is about to hand him another batch again he asks the
little old lady, "why don't you eat the peanuts yourself?"

"We can't chew them because we've no teeth", she replied.
The puzzled driver asks, "Why do you buy them then?"
The old lady replied, "We just love the chocolate around them."
