Although I like that kind of thing which parodies real events, I was thinking more of shows like "Have I got News for You" which is a kind-of quiz show on what's actually been happening in the previous week/few days. Or "clip" shows which show prominent people "getting egg on their faces" (sometimes lierally). Some of the impressionist shows satirise current events as well.
There's nothing more amusing or revealing than hearing that the Deputy Prime Mnister is guilty of "improper use of furniture" in his office while having an affair with his secretary. Or the reactions of newspapers to his taking his office staff to his official country residence for a game of croquet during working hours (a team-building exercise apparently). The tabloids decried it as skiving off work, while one of the "better class" newspapers was only appalled that he was playing crochet not wearing a jacket!
