Anyone planning to fly out from the UK today (at least), aiports are on the
highest level of alert and no hand luggage is allowed. A limited number of
items are allowed to be carried on but they must be in a clear plastic bag
and have no wrapping or containers. For example, baby milk and juice is
allowed (sufficient for the journey), but must be tasted by the accompanying
adult in front of the security staff. People are having to repack their
luggage at the airport so that it all goes into the hold. There's a list of
what can be carried on at:

Heathrow is currently closed to incoming flights - there's nowhere for the
planes to park up because of the increased security. Several people have
been arrested and armed police are at all airports.
It appears there was a threat to blow up planes in mid-Atlantic.
Don't know how long these restrictions are likely to last.
