Hi All, This thread is making me chuckle! When I first went to Newcastle, in the north of England, I couldn't wait for someone - anyone! - to call me 'Pet'. And when I stopped to ask for directions, I could have kissed the chappie who obliged by calling me 'Pet' - I have never thought that calling a person 'Love', or 'Sunshine' or anything else is the least bit derogatory, but it can be downright unpleasant if someone calls one by name, but sneeringly! So - perhaps it is all in our perceptions......
