Hi All, Doesn't anyone remember "Downtown" by a record by Petula Clark in the 1960s? Downtown has only positive connotations as far as I know. Here in Brattleboro (where downtown is pretty small) people also say they are going "down street". It means pretty much the same thing and I don't know where it came from.
