My brother-in-law is a milkman and this is just one of the things that he's been asked to do (and has done). Just some of the other things have been collecting prescriptions from the chemist (pharmacy), breaking into the house when the owner (known to him) has locked themselves out, posting letters, changing the fuse in a plug and releasing a man from his bathroom when the key broke in the lock. To some of the mainly elderly customers he has, he's their main check to see that they're OK each day.
