I am so excited about the advent calendars offered by Jean and Brenda.
One to open in the morning, and one at night!
Besides advent calendars, what do you do to celebrate the holidays?
We have several trees around town that have well attended lighting
ceremonies, and of course, the shopping malls are already too full to
find close parking! There are great specials on TV that will occupy the
time while I make lace, and we will be taking advantage of the many
opportunities to do something for someone else who could never repay
you... like helping the homeless, visiting nursing homes and hospitals,
and sharing time with children in orphanages and youth detention centers.
Each Sunday evening in December our church (First Baptist) puts our
wonderful musicians to work. There is a Children's Choir Musical the
first week(in about 3 minutes), and an adult special music evening with
an Irish couple, the Gettys, on the 9th. The 16th features our
orchestra with singer Travis Cottrell (if you've ever heard of Beth
Moore, you'll know who he is) and a candlelight carol service on
Christmas Eve. Each of these services will be broadcast live on the
internet. They begin at 5:00 eastern standard time , and they usually
last a couple of hours. I'm staying home tonight, so I am going to
watch it myself over the internet. If you're interested, the website
is http://www.fbcjax.com
Our Christmas tree is up at home, and my grandson put the star on top!
