It was reported that the epi-centre was Market Rasen in Lincolnshire (just
above the bulge on the right hand side of the UK), and it was felt as far
south as the Isle of Wight - the "little" island just off the middle of the
south coast of England, as far west as South Wales and as far north as
Dumfries in Scotland.
Some structural damage happened around the epi-centre. Seems mainly to be
chimneys crashing to the ground and through roofs.
On our south coast local radio, a few people said they were aware of
something around 1 am, and they were all believable except the woman who
said her bed swayed from side to side. Think she was probably having an
inner ear disturbance. Several said that caged birds were very disturbed and
sat on the floor of their cages instead of on their perches. and dogs and
cats seemed disturbed if the owners werenlt aware of anything.
Our local newspaper reported what eyewitnesses had said, but, as you know
I'm a pedant and I question how anyone can actually see an earthquake. You
could see the effects and feel it, but not see it.
Both DH and I weren't aware of anything, having slept soundly, and neither
was Ben, our Border Collie who snored the night away.
