Sue  -  I meant to reply yesterday but my memory let me down again.

No, no one this side of the bridge seemed to know it had been closed.  
Usually the closure of either (or both) of the bridges is on the news bulletins 
but 
no one had heard anything.  Failing that, there really should have been signs 
way ahead of the bridge.  Ann Parker (and presumably tim, too) was (were) not 
amused by it either.  In fact, Ann was most annoyed.

Were we being paranoid we could say it was a dastardly English plot to 
prevent English visitors from bringing their money into Wales :-)

Glad you had a good day despite the bridge problem.  We enjoyed it, too, and 
I, as usual, spent more than I should have done - but there were too many 
books I couldn't leave on the stalls :-)
