After years of Military moves, all with civilian companies, the most important
thing your son can do is SUPERVISE those packers! No matter how good the
company, it comes down to the packers. If you leave the room, they're going to
dump your stuff in a box without padding. When you're moving in and they're
unpacking, and they find something broken and your're not around, they'll cover
it with paper and take it out with the empty boxes. The checklist you check
only ensures that every box ends up at the destination- not the safety of the
box. If you have to, enlist friends and family to supervise. Every packer
should have a watcher. If you can't get enough to watch the unpacking, have
them leave it for you to unpack.
