Greetings from your mostly absent list-owner. I missed the birthday
greeting again (it was 15 years on April 15) Wow, you guys just rock!
Two announcements for pending changes to the arachne.com website (and only
to the website, the mailing lists won't be affected)
First:
The guild and source listings are shockingly out of date, and I'm just not
able to commit the time to bring them up to scratch. I've wrestled with
my separation anxiety, and I think it is just time to let them go.
I'd like to start over with new listings, but while I could probably manage
to put it together, keeping it up to date going forward is just going to
continue to be a problem.
I would like to have a list of places for lacemakers to go where they could
find such information. the IOLI website is probably pretty safe for not
changing, and I'd be happy to hear any more suggestings for a quick goto
list.
Second:
I'm finally taking my programming project off the back burner, and am
planning to use the arachne.com domain for this purpose. The lacemaking
pages will still exist, but I'm going to move them to a subpage. If you
have links or other references to Http://www.arachne.com/ please change
them to http://www.arachne.com/lacemaking There will be a big link on
the front page to go to the lacemaking site, so nobody should get lost.
Don't worry, this doesn't affect the mailing list in any way.
If you are curious, my first project is an update and rewrite of the sock
calculator for the iPhone. I'm very nearly done, hoping to have it on the
app store in July.
I'll make both changes at the same time - replacing the guild and source
listings with the quick 'goto' list, and moving the site to the new URL -
within a couple of weeks, I wanted to give you guys a heads-up first.
