would be pumps (northern England) or plimsolls (Southern England)

UK? Sweatshirt fabric is a thick cotton knit with a layer of fuzz (like
lint) on the inside. Is there a jacket like that in the UK?
As for sneakers and tennis shoes, the only difference between them is
geographic. For example, New York has sneakers, California has tennies.
But then there are boat shoes.... <G>
