I had to self-inject for a year as my treatment for cancer - nightly for two weeks, then two weeks to recover and then repeat. Thankfully I didn't have to inject into a vein or anything complicated like that. I doubt that anyone WANTS to do it, and I expect everyone feels nervous to start off with, but it becomes second nature quite quickly.
It was unnerving the first time, but I got used to it, and gradually learned to inject more comfortably than nurses and doctors do to me. I had nurse friends who offered to come in each night and inject me, but I didn't want to take up their time (or be beholden to fitting into their schedules). So I was determined to learn for myself. By the end of the year, DH had learned to see a needle without passing-out!! Practice on an orange or a banana until you get the feel for it, and ask for the slimmest needles that will allow the drug to pass. Hope it goes well. Be brave! Sue Hope it goes well. Be brave!
