Sympathies.... some years ago I broke my wrist. No fun.

You can make lace one handed if you work slowly, and only need to cross and
twist. No sewings. No tying off. No winding bobbins. If you have a project
started that's fairly basic, you can try it.

This might be a good time to have a closer read of the lace books in your
collection. Read up on a technique you don't know very well. Choose a pattern
from each book and bookmark it for later. Look for the Christmas ornament to
make this year. Update your book inventory. Sort your thread or bobbins. Make
photocopies of your bobbins. (Drape a cloth over the bobbins on the copier for
the background.) You know those tasks that you always want to do but are
usually too busy to do them.

And have patience. You might be back to usual tasks sooner than I was if your
fingers are usable. Mine were encased in the cast and completely useless for
weeks. If your fingers can hold a bobbin, even in a week or two, you might
even be able to wind them sooner than I could.

It seems to take forever, but it really doesn't. Follow instructions from the
doctor and have faith. Your lace will be waiting.

Alice in Oregon..... who painted holly leaves on her cast because it was
Christmas time.
