Jean The person quoted in the piece about the announcement of Richard III's remains on the BBC website is Dr John Ashdown-Hill, I'm not sure if he was the person at the press conference. But he did his PhD at Essex University and I met him when he was there. I didn't warm to him personally, but he certainly is a serious historian. And I don't believe there's any reason to doubt the DNA results. I think it's very exciting and it doesn't matter where he's buried. I seem to remember that there's a small, but excellent, museum about him somewhere in the York city walls.
Alison in Essex UK Just been listening to my local radio station. Professor Martin Biddle, Professor of Medieval Archaeology at Oxford University, is involved in producing a map of Winchester in 1800 is doubting that the bones were those of Richard III. He claims that the excavation wasn't done properly - in fact nothing was done properly - and that the DNA results presented were not convincing, although he admits he isn't a geneticist.
