Those air-tight film cannisters were the *handiest* things!
I designed a complete sewing kit to fit in one, wedged in
so things wouldn't rattle and the threads wouldn't tangle.
It's still in the emergency-tools kit of my bicycle.  And
there's a film cannister of deodorant powder in the little
bag of stuff I throw into my suitcase when I travel.

Pill bottles are also a handy size, but every last one now
features a grandma-proof cap that you can't be sure is
sealed properly.
