Hi All

Could I stand on my soapbox and chunter for a while? (Those of you who would
be offended by a reference to religion, specifically Christian, please hit
'delete' now ...)

As I am sure you know, instead of a dedicated religious stamp for the
Christmas post, the UK PO has re-issued last year's religious stamps, as well
as this year's - secular - stamps. I am writing to ask everyone who is a
Churchgoer to ask for last year's religious postage stamps for their Christmas
cards this year - apparently, the PO will carry out a survey of how many
stamps of the secular (the ghastly pantomime dames ..) or religious varieties
have been sold by Post Offices this year. The informed opinion is that,
unless people know that there are religious stamps on sale, they may not ask
for them, so will be sold the secular stamps. The lower numbers of the
religious stamps sold may then serve to let the PO say there is no call for
religious stamps, and abandon them for next year and subsequent years, so
please pass this on to everyone you know!
