The Met museum has a feature which allows you to set up your own gallery. I 
have placed oil paintings that I think would be of interest to lacemakers in my 
gallery. They feature people wearing lace that I think would be identifiable 
from the painting at the museum, although, unfortunately probably not from the 
images on the web-site which are low resolution. Other works feature things 
such as the interior of a milliner's shop with lace hanging, or the virgin 
working on a sewing pillow which looks just like pillows used for needle lace. The 
first painting is "The Lacemaker" by Nicholas Maes.
I think it would be an interesting parlor game for people who visit the Met 
to try to identify the lace in the oil paintings.
