I was told some years ago that Sylko is no longer pure cotton, but is a cotton/polyester mix. Is this correct?
Sylko is a brand name for mercerised sewing cotton thread.
It was marketed as 'Dewhurst's Sylko' by J Dewhurst and Son and then by English Sewing Ltd until about 1970
Then it became just 'Sylko' marketed by Tootal (which are part of the Coats Viyella Group)
It used to come in sizes 40 (28 wraps/cm) and 50 (30 wraps/cm) but the newer Tootle Sylko reels don't show a size, although it is the finer size 50.
