Thanks Steph for your reply re Sylko Thread. Masterton is a small rural town and not terribly well endowed with supplies of sewing needs etc.. I suspect that the local supplier made a decision not to stock the pure cotton any more and so told us it was no longer available! I am sure I will find it if I look in some of our larger towns. I did buy several reels when the local person sold them off before going out of them, so I haven't really worried too much, but I am glad to have the situation clarified.
