hello lacemakers, Just to tell you I have finished the lace teachers course at the Kantcentrum in Brugge and......... I was the laureate of my class together with Hilde (ex-aequo). We started in september 2000 with 18 students,(one lady from Japan and 1 from Holland included ), 3 of them gave up in the first year, and another 3 didn't complete their thesis, so we were 12 to graduate. Perhaps some of you remember the theme of my thesis : lappets in Mechlin lace from the 18th century. My most breathtaking moment of these 3 years was when I found in a museum the designs of lappets from the 18th century (for mechlin lace of course). I was allowed to copy them and to put some of them in my thesis, they have never been published before........also the photos of the lappets I discuss have never been published because they belong to a private collection, so it is a quite unique thesis, and I am very pleased with the result. Now I can go one with my passion : designing and making mechlin and binche and of course the other flemisch laces.
