Jeri
I have only been on the list for about 18 months. I mostly lurk due to the
fact that I am normally behind on the list and assume that if I know the
answer someone else will already have replied.
I keep quite a lot of the most interesting and informative postings that I
think I will refer to again - so I have lots of yours. Thank you for
everything I have learnt. But I haven't seen your posting on the Lace and
Embroidery Resource Center before now.

WOW - it sounds fantastic

That certainly sounds ambitious!

With todays technology the location should be less important, but there is
something
different about being able to touch, feel and browse through a real book
rather than
via web pages etc.

It sounds quite a daunting prospect to raise that sort of money
I wonder if that is why you had so few replies before. We all feel too
inadequate to be able to help.

If you were in the UK I would approach the Lace Guild, the V&A and the
English Heritage or National Trust for help with the funding. The Lottery
also give out grants (they sometimes match what you raise on projects like
this).

Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge in this area in the US.
It would be dreadful to see a collection of this size being disbanded so I
hope that
the links from within arachne will connect you with the right people to
realise your plans.
Keep us all upto date - perhaps we can break this down into smaller steps to
achieve it.
