I've enjoyed the discussion about turning bobbins. My DH has discovered he can turn bobbins on his lathe. My pillow looks like a chocolate box with yummy shades of brown! I have a wonderful variety of bobbins, cherry, mahogany, maple, paduak, rosewood, walnut and sassafras. He will buy a pen blank or a small piece, and turn a pair of bobbins for me. He learns how that type of wood handles on the lathe, and I discover how that bobbin works on the pillow.
On our last trip to the wood store, we saw some Corian cut into pen blanks and DH wondered how that would work. Has anyone turned Corian? (seamless countertop) I thought it might be too slippery for a bobbin. But if we buy a pen blank, he can get a pair of bobbins out of it. Any opinions?
