I'm trying to advise beginners so as to help them avoid frustration. IS ANYBODY LISTENING????? Lorelei
Yes, I'm listening. While I started *doing* lace with a very generous supply of books, bobbins and pillows I purchased as a lot from someone who had tucked them away for over 20 years quickly went through the books and kept Doris Southard's book out for my *teacher*. This book has made it possible for me to work alone and to help two buddies start up as well. Since all my books were over 25 years old I decided to invest in a few newer publications as well. I now have a really good section of books that will guide me for a considerable length of time. When I've become totally confused this list has been extremely helpful and an excellent source of advice in selecting new books to add to my library. I've always thought I couldn't do crochet beyond simple edges on garment but I'm really intrigued with Irish Crochet. Is there a beginners book in Irish Crochet? I really can't start another thing right now but figured a book wouldn't hurt. I can see it as really neat appliqués on garments.
