Dear Arachnes Sheila, Jane, Amanda and I made the trip to Lace Camp yesterday and had a wonderful time!!! The weather was gorgeous and the company was great! There are 37 lacemakers attending this year and the 4 of us have already paid our $10 registration for next year! Two of the Honiton lacemakers were giving informal instruction in beginning Honiton to several of the regular attendees - they were quite enthused!! It is amazing to see all the different types of lace being made. We arrived in time for the Bar B Q lunch down by the waterfront and the Official Tree Planting in recognition of the 10th Anniversary of the Lace Camp. We left the group about 4:30, made a visit to the local fabric store then headed back to Little Current where we indulged in a very healthy supper - a Fahrquar's double scoop waffle cone :)) Their ice cream is the best!!! We arrived back in the Soo at 9:30 after a most enjoyable day!
Amanda Winnicki has asked me to post a query for Diane Vander Pol who is interested in contacting Greta Tobie who lived in Griggstown (Princeton) NY in 1972. If anyone knows of her whereabouts, please contact me directly and I will pass on Diane's email address. Back to my packing for England for our departure on Tuesday :) Jane Sault Ste.
