Karen, you could try putting a note in the Lace Guild's green pages - I think they have a shop and swap/buy sell or trade section - oh, hm, I just looked at one and it would appear to be for sellers only, but you could ask. Or maybe write a letter to 'Lace' itself - it might prompt a response from someone in the UK.
I blush to go on with my tale, but I have just bought a 2nd hand copy through Theo Brejaart - a few years ago I wrote, asking if he had the title - no, but my name could go on a waitlist should a copy surface...I must have said 'yes' - because recently he contacted me saying that a copy was available...I'm v. sorry I hadn't known earlier that someone on the list was looking...I offered to get it for a friend who is working through Thompson's first book, and convinced her it was a good idea...and now she has it (v. good service from Theo, by the way - overseas yet). My name must have been on that list for quite a while, because I did eventually find another copy - must have been the last one, from a bookshop in Honiton, found for me at some trouble, I don't doubt, by Jonathon at The Honiton Shop. I worked through the first pattern, gnashed my way through part of the second pattern, and quite enjoyably am working through the third pattern, in 6 month intervals... My last bit of free advice is if you're looking for a hard-to-find book, put yourself on a wait list for it - through Theo, or one of the other dealers. Maybe put the 'looking for' in your sig line to arachne!
