It was in powder/granular form and had to be dissolved in water before use. Perhaps Jane could tell us more. I have to confess that the lace did not stay stuck for long, but that was probably due to operator error. In retrospect, I should perhaps have primed the wooden sticks in some way, and I could easily have got the proportions of water/gum arabic wrong. I do have to say though that when the lace came off, after some months, there was no mark or staining apparent, and there still is not after probably another 15 years.
