Dropping off like flies, we are... <g>
I'm *mostly* packed -- haven't zipped the suitcase in case I think of something to add to it though I've been piling/removing stuff on an un-used bed for the past 3 days, and there shouldn't be any changes at this point.
Only about half of my bobbins are wound. But Betty Ann and I will be taking a "scenic route", overnighting at about mid-point, and what's there to do, in a strange motel, but drink and wind bobbins?
One of Pene's passengers -- Barbara Morrow -- is my "blind date" roomie; we've never met before, but we both hope we can "mesh" in this small lacemaking world.
I'm sure to have forgotten something -- I always do -- but I'll concentrate on living without for a week :) At any rate, I packed the camera, and the "classroom kit" -- humongous -- it's amazing how the "absolutely necessary" stuff *grows*, once you know you're travelling by car, not by plane <g>.
My Lace (111) arrived today, and will have to be left unread (well, I took a break and *skimmed* it <g>). How do you (folks at Hollies) *do it*? My OIDFA Bulletin (April, May, June) arrived only a week ago ("after the mustard", as we say in Poland), but Lace *says* "July", and misses the date by a single day only...
The Arachne Spider is missing the bobbins I planned to attach (and probably won't, now), but, otherwise, is ready to make an appearance. Like myself, it's a Libra -- undecided <g> After Jeri mentioned a hat with lace, I dusted off one of mine, applied some lace to it, and then thought my companion might like one too. So I put the Luton souvenir on it and it fit perfectly. Then I found a piece of lace (hand-made, of course) to put on the hat... So, from the front, it's a "he" -- the hat's a boater, the @ is relatively "sparse", the background baby-boy blue... From the back, it's a different story :) There's the frilly lace on the hat, with a ribbon bow to it. There's a litle Burkhard mat (made in linen *and tatting cotton* <g>), all hearts. And there's the royal blue background. Definitely a "she"... Naming "it" may be a problem... :)
OK, I'm dropping off myself; may have to get up *really* early tomorrow, to catch up with the last-minute things. See y'all Sunday 10th, enjoy yourselves while you can.
