Well, I for one question how "old" this pillow really is.
Some people seem to think "old" and "crude" are synonymous.
The first tip-off is the close-up of the pricking... which
is on what looks to be recycled poster-board which has
printing of some kind on it in red ink.

The pins - which look rather old - actually seem to be pins
with heads (can't tell how old they are...) which have had
little burrs put on them... A redundancy, to say the least.
The bobbins aren't bad... look old, probably aren't.

The lace looks awfully clean to be really old and knocking
around. All in all, I'd say this was something somebody
cooked up for a reinactment , and then didn't need it any
more.
