I think the "bobbin shop" in the Shambles in York may have closed down. The
bobbins they had were very expensive and nothing special. You would be far
better off ordering from one of the many excellent bobbin makers we have in
Britain. I am happy to recommend some, but why not check out the Lace Guild
web site where many are listed, you will be amazed at the variety and
quality on offer. You will save a lot of money too by ordering straight from
the maker. Most UK lacemakers buy direct, as the few shops which do stock
bobbins mark them up by about 100%
