Jean in Poole said Is there some significance in the relationship between the dolphin and bobbin lacemaking? I ask because the emblem for Poole Bobbin Lace Circle is a dolphin on top of a Bucks Thumper bobbin. The signigicance of the dolphin in this case is that it's the emblem of the town of Poole, where we have the Dophin Shopping Centre, swimming poole, etc. and the dolphin's on all Borough of Poole stationery, vehicles and everything else.
The Moray Firth is famous for it's dolphins which is why we chose it for our emblem - I don't think we knew of the Poole emblem. The other choices we considered were a whisky still - we are more famous for our whisky than our dolphins - and I think a highland cow, but it was 10 years ago and my memory is not as good as it used to be <g>. I think we chose well, dolphins are beautiful, do a lot of talking and can be stroppy! jenny barron Scotland - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
