I am not sure but I think this pattern book was published at about the time of an exhibition organised by the Lace Guild, called 'Lace in the Making'. That was in 1982, and one of the few patterns in the book to have a date on is Sue Godsmark's mat which is dated 1981. I think that I may have a picture of it completed, if/when I find it I'll send a copy to you in some way. Don't hold your breath! If this was part of a challenge it would surely be the final test.
By chance, looking at this pattern book, I noticed 2 patterns from Ghyslaine Maes the President of OIDFA who died so recently. The OIDFA bulletin No. 3 arrived today also. It reported how ill she had become, but not her death. The world of lacemaking has lost a talented and dedicated lady.

While leafing through some of my books this weekend, I came across a Lace
Pattern Book published by the Lace Guild. Don't have any idea how old it
is; the cover is Dk. Blue and the first page pricking is Janet McGoldrick's
Penguin.
It has 52 pages of prickings and pictures.
But the one I eyed (also thinking about the recent discussion on the Channer
Matt) is on page 44-45, a circular mat by Sue Godsmark. It seems to me it
would be just as challenging, and it doesn't even tell how many bobbin pairs
or thread to use. I guess if you are up to the challenge, you will just
know.
Has anyone done this pattern? and is there a picture of it somewhere? I
think I would like to try it.

who is getting tired of the Torchon edging on my demo pillow, I have done
over 5 yards of it now.
