I must say I read Christine Lardner's report with considerable surprise. Making Barbara Underwood's beautiful Bedfordshire cuff, with its raised tallies, its central rose, and the bit of Point Ground center, was one of the most challenging, fruitful and delightful experiences of my lacemaking life. It is true, however, that there is a lot of decision-making to be done when you do a Beds pattern; and one person's idea of where a particular pin should go might very well not coincide with another person's solution of the same problem. That's all part of the experience of doing Beds. Torchon it's not. -- Aurelia Loveman
