The horseshoe is fairly flat and can be pinned to the pillow through holes in it.. I missed out on buying one last year at convention so I used a plastic bracelet from the $ store instead. I just lifted the bobbins through the center as I had already started on a motif. It worked but this year I managed to get one at convention, at just over $3 it hardly broke the bank.
